The Shoa
Our Teachers Resource Guide will have questions for the class to respond to. For example how would you teach others about The Shoa? What are the lessons of the Shoah?

Below are some examples of what students created in previous workshops

Sci-Fi – Shoa 2012
The Shoa returns – a new dictator arises and blames the problems of America on the Jews. At the same time there is a plague and the doctors close the airports to quarantine the outbreak. Jews are once again blamed and similar scenarios take place like Christalnacht. This time however, Israelis must smuggle Jews out of America like they did in Germany. Some saw it coming and left, others didn’t and got stuck, or couldn’t get out. This is the story of characters who transform from their previous indifference to freedom fighters leading the way for the big escape.

Movie – ‘all the grey areas’
Have students research the various positions held by Jews before the war. What was the interest of Israel, of orthodoxy, of reform, of Jewish leadership, of rebels, of fighters, Jabotinsky, and Ben Gurion, how did they differ? After research create a scene where someone is coming to speak to the Jews and encourage Aliya, what obstacles and deterrence’s are there? How are they received? Write a scene of two people attempting to leave or deciding to stay. What where their concerns?
